It's not the very end...

my plan and how you can say goodbye

April 4, 2018

The countdown has begun.  On this day, I have 26 days until I move from South Carolina to begin a new part of my life.  I’m going to call this chapter, Willpower which by definition is the ability to make decisions even in the face of strong opposition.  Truth be told, I’ve been battling this decision for a few months now.  Well, the exact amount of time would be since Steve Harvey published his book, Jump on December 5th, 2016.  I read that book in a week and after reading it, I knew I needed to jump but I didn’t.

I have been praying profusely to God that He’ll show me the path I should take.  Deep down in my gut, God has been telling me to go all along but my heart has made this decision so hard. I hate to say goodbye to the oldest loves in my life, my Mema and Papa and the youngest, my five year old niece but here’s what I failed to realize, it’s not goodbye, it’s I’ll see you in a little while. The even bigger realization is if I don’t jump now my grandparents won’t be able to see my success and my niece won’t witness the value of chasing your dreams.  Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path.  How can I believe in God whole heartedly and not jump?

So, I’m doing it.  May 1st I’ll be living in a new city chasing the same dream.  At first, my plan was to go back to Los Angeles and to grind it out but then, I started getting signs that maybe Atlanta was a better choice right now.  I’ll be able to afford an apartment easier than in LA and be able to afford acting classes which is crucial.  Another plus to Atlanta, I’ll be two hours away from home so it’s not too detrimental on my family.  I do plan on being a server or bartender somewhere and it’s funny to me how strangers, friends, and even family members just cannot stand the fact that I’m going from being a radio personality to a waitress.  It’s so funny to me that I’ve started making it a big joke which leaves people even more shocked!

Hey, it’s MY journey and I am trusting God completely to lead me so I guess a better name for this chapter of life is Willpower and Faith because Steve Harvey did say in Jump, “When you are bold enough to step off in faith, to jump, that is when you’ll soar”.  Want to see me before I leave and start soaring? I would absolutely love that!! We can talk  about your dreams too and I want to thank you for supporting me through this past chapter!
