July 17, 2020

Migos made their return to the top 10 on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, but that’s not all. With their newest single “Need It” featuring YoungBoy Never Broke Again, making it to the coveted spot, the trio officially ties for the most top 10s by any group with some of R&B’s greatest, Destiny’s Child and Dru Hill.

Not bad for a random Friday… According to Billboard, “Need It,” “lifts 15-10 on the chart dated July 18 with an 18% surge to 10.4 million in audience in the week ending July 12, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.”

The chart category began in 1992, and out of the top three, Dru Hill was the first to cement their spot at the top. Starting off with "Tell Me," which rose to No. 6 in 1996, followed by eight consecutive radio hits to reach the top 10, including the group's only number 1, "In My Bed.” Landing their final pair of top 10s in 2003 in with "I Should Be…,” and a guest spot alongside Kool Moe Dee on Will Smith's "Wild Wild West.”

Destiny’s Child joined the club next, starting their run of top tens in 1998 with "No No No," that reached number 5. They landed 3 additional top 10s from their sophomore album The Writings on the Wall, including number 1 hit "Bills Bills Bills," which reigned for four weeks in 1999. They earned two more top 10s from Survivor f in 2000-2001, closing out with their final four all coming from their 2004 LP Destiny Fulfilled.

Which brings us to Migos, the men of the moment earned their first top 10 in 2014 with “Fight Night.” 2017 brought them four additional chart toppers, first with “Bad and Boujee” featuring Lil Uzi Vert, which hit number 1 and stayed there for nine weeks, followed by “T-Shirt” that made it to number 2. “Slippery” featuring Gucci Mane makes lucky number three, even though it only made it to number 9, ending off the year with “I Get The Bag” also featuring Gucci Mane, this one actually made it to number 3 on the chart.

In 2018, the rap trio blessed us with the following undeniable bangers, “Motorsport” with Nicki Minaj which hit number 3, “Stir Fry,” made it to number 4, and “Walk It Talk It” featuring Drake, peaking at number 5. Smh, not sure how none of those made it to number one.

In 2019, “Pure Water” featuring Mustard made their ninth top 10, ironically making it to the number 9 spot. Leading us to the their 10th and most recent top ten hit “Need It,” featuring YoungBoy Never Broke Again, which as of now is currently holding the number 10 spot.
