EXCLUSIVE: After 8 GRAMMY Nominations, Is a Lizzo and BTS Collaboration Up Next?

Hear what the these artists had to say about each other

November 20, 2019

Wednesday morning was “Good as Hell” for Lizzo, who leads all other artists with eight nominations for the 2020 GRAMMY Awards. The self-love star scored a nod in the top four categories and beyond, making her the biggest story on the way to music’s biggest night.

“This has been an incredible year for music and I’m just so thankful to even be part of it" she wrote shortly after the announcement was made.

At the same time, BTS somehow managed to get shutout of the GRAMMYs this year, after a highly-publicized appearance presenting at last year’s show. The K-pop Kings hoped to be back as nominees, but they were sadly left out of the celebration this week.

No matter what happens after all the gold has been given out, Lizzo and BTS have had two of the biggest 2019s around. Both the “Truth Hurts” singer and the “Boy With Luv” band captured attention around the world, and shot a light of hope and love through an often dark discourse. It only makes sense that these artists would be fans of each other, but we had no idea how deep it went.

“When we listen to her whole album while doing all the exercises, it’s one of the best albums for the fitness,” RM shared with RADIO.COM about the group’s love for Lizzo earlier this year. “We get power and energy. Please try it. While you’re on the treadmill, you listen to the album, Cuz I Love You, and you can do it for an hour.”

“Why are they so adorable?” Lizzo laughs as we tell her how she has impacted the BTS workout plan. “I actually listened to my first BTS song ever, on camera, where they were just playing songs for me and I was doing my reaction to it. I had a complete visceral experience. I lost myself. I was under the ocean swimming with the whales.”

“Yeah, I think I like BTS.”

Now that we know of this mutual appreciation, how do we get these modern legends together on a track? BTS loves a good collab, joining forces with everyone from Halsey to Lauv. We know Lizzo is down to share the stage too, so is anything stopping this Pop dream from being realized?

“If they like me, I love them” Lizzo adds with a smile.
